Congratulations to all of the winners of the 2005 North East Ohio Series of Grass! This year's series was quite different than those past, in that it was held over one weekend, August 27th and 28th, with the Sunday being worth double points. Year after year the Xtreme Riders Grass Drags is only successful because of the dedication it's club members have to the sport and the racers who come to support us. Financially, these races and the resulting generosity to local charities, such as 'Homes for Kids', is only made possible by those business and individuals that give so much. Kind thanks to those who commit a great amount of their personal time to the event and to those that sponsor everything form lanes and the DJ to the entire Series! Many people touched by the supported local charities breathe easier from these proceeds… God Bless!

Please see the 2005 North East Ohio Series of Grass Race Results section of this publication for a list of the class winners. You can also check results and race day pictures on our website at:

Snowmobilier of the Year
In last month's article, the Xtreme Rides recognized Kevin Davis as our "Snowmobilier of the Year". Kevin is actually a member of three local clubs and has helped to organize the coalition of clubs in the Pennsylvania Allegheny National Forest [ANF]. I wanted to take this time to share a great letter Kevin's wife Cyndi submitted as a nomination:
"Kevin is such an ambassador to the sport. If he could, he would recruit everyone he knows to the sport. He spends much of his free time working not only with the ANF to improve riding conditions there, but he has contacted many of our lawmakers to try to keep our national parks open for the snowmobiler. Most people don't see the time and effort Kevin puts into keeping our sport alive…. "

Kevin, thanks for everything you do for snowmobiling! He and Cyndi also have a very competitive grass racing daughter named Winter …and a future rider on the way. 4/30/05|:|Jeff|:|jeffrey.burns@ge.com|:|15:11|:|May 2005 Newsletter|:||:|1114888273|:|Next meeting

With Snowdayz here and gone, the Novi show was the next snowmobiling fix for a group of Xtreme riders. Making a weekend of it, on November 6th, club members attended the Novi, Michigan Snowmobile Show. All major manufacturers were represented along with a host of power-sports vendors from across the country. Plenty of deals were to be had on everything from trailers to clothes. Blair Morgan was even there for autographs! With the show filling the Expo Center, it is well worth the drive to Novi, which is just North West of Detroit. Sunday’s trip home included a stop at Cabela’s in Dundee just off Rt23…always worth the trip in itself!

Although no one can disagree with Greg Pocza being ‘not quite right’, he certainly has received the Extreme Riders’ Gratitude Award for his Generosity at this year’s Snow Dayz! Greg won the raffle for the Practice Timing System. He immediately put it up for high bid and donated the $150 of proceeds [given by the Pat Klingeman and Chad Schultz race team] back to the club. THANK YOU GREG!

Don’t forget about the Xtreme Riders Holiday party! The Christmas party will be held at The Gentry, 116 E. Liberty St., Hubbard, Ohio 44425, on December 4, 2004 7-11pm. . Please RSVP to Joe Zagorec if you plan to attend the party.

Make sure you’ve booked your room at the Quality Inn in New Liskeard, Ontario for the 2005 Club Trip, which will be March 5 – 11. The phone number there is (705) 647-7357. Call today because rooms are going fast!

Jeff Burns
Xtreme Riders Secretary
8/11/04|:|Jeff|:|jeffrey.burns@ge.com|:|17:31|:|Xtreme Riders Secretary|:||:|1092259876|:|I am writing to you for the first time in the Ohio State Snowmobiler as the new Xtreme Riders Secretary. I have been with the Xtreme Riders since the club’s founding in 1999 and live south east of Akron in Norton, OH with my wife, Erin.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Karen Zagorec for her past years of service to this club as the former Secretary but, at the same time, ensure everyone knows what an asset we continue to have in her and her husband, Joe [our President]. Karen continues to support and perform many of the secretary duties. She and Joe also handle the behind-the-scenes legwork and drive the success of our yearly grass drag races. When we are all complaining about how we are going to keep up with life, Joe and Karen just get it done! …and have raised an adorable AND very competitive grass drag racer, their five year old daughter, Annie. For these reasons the club had a real challenge selecting THE Snowmobiler of the Year. We unanimously decided that the Zagorec Family was the real winner and have awarded Joe and Karen this year’s honor as “Snowmobiler’s of the Year”! Anyone who has experienced Joe and Karen’s dedication to our sport of snowmobiling, this club, and the future of this area’s trail systems cannot dispute our decision. Thank You Joe and Karen, for being a friend and your commitment to all of us!

I would also like to thank the Snyder family for hosting 85 Xtreme Riders and their families at our annual summer picnic again this year at their beautiful farm. The lake is always the center of attention! This year the banks just weren’t high enough so out came the ramp to hurl the few daring Xtreme Riders and their sleds onto […and sometimes into] the water. We again held piñata contests and a Fishing Derby for all of the kids. This year’s winners were: 1st place: Dominic Fronzaglio, 2nd place: Ashley Leamer, 3rd place: Annie Zagorec, 4th place: Dillon McKean, 5th place: Nathan McKean, and the Booby Prize to our “big kid”: Greg Pocza. Thanks to all who supplied and helped with the great food.

The Time is fast approaching! The Xtreme Riders Snowmobile Club will be presenting the 5th annual North East Ohio Series of Grass sponsored by Custom Tarpaulin Products, Inc. and Greenford Tractor Sales at Quaker City Raceway, Salem, Ohio. Snowmobile Racers will accumulate points over the series of three races to win cash, trophies and other prizes. This year's race dates are August 29 (Sponsored by Mohney Excavating and SAK Recreation), September 12 (Sponsored by Cape's Performance Center), and October 3 (Sponsored by Cape's Performance Center). Registration each day 8-10am, racing at 11am. Food and Raffles will be available at each race. Gate fee is $6 for anyone over the age of 10 yrs. Racers and Spectators are welcome!

Xtreme Riders Snowmobile club holds these grass drag races each year to raise money for their charities. Last year the race series helped the club to raise money and give over $3000 to area charities including Homes for Kids, a home in Niles, Ohio for abused and neglected children, Angels for Animals, a rescue shelter for animals and the Salvation Army in Salem, Ohio. Call 330-534-5326 for information, or see our website www.xtremeriders.snowclubs.com.

Club members, please remember, Xtreme Riders Club Dues are now due and can be mailed to Pete Dunlap, Club Treasure [4223 S. Duck Creek, North Jackson, OH 44451].
